Project 365~Feb 15-21

Sunday, February 15th at my wits end from telling Kiah 1oo,ooo times to keep her thumbs out of her mouth I finally resorted to digging out a mis-matched pair of mittens, cutting the fingers off and forcing her to wear them. Worked for the first couple of days... but they got rather grotesque and had to be tossed. The girl is seven... any ideas?

Monday, February 16th Cats do funny things. Booger(left) and Daphne are sisters and I know all too well how sisters do not always get along. Once or twice a week they have a face off. This time it was ovr who was going to get the prime napping spot next to the books. I snapped a pic because I thought they looked like live book ends. LOL.

Tuesday, February 17th I attempted to take snacks to Campus Life, but the weather had other ideas. I got about a quarter of the way there I knew that if I didn't turn around at that point I may not be able to get home.

Wednesday, February 18th Despite the snow the day before, by midday our skylight framed a glimmer of hope... a peephole into Spring.

Thursday, February 19th after Kiah's haircut we picked up some snakechow. The kids love to hold the mice but I make them sit in the bathtub so there is no chance of escape. There were six mice all together and they seemed to be overly attracted to Eden's feet.

Friday, February 20th A good friend called to see if I wanted to go to the park. OH YEAH, BABY!!! The kids had barely been outside all week. It was just what they, and I, needed.

Saturday, February 21st I took my mom to help her pick out a new laptop and we went to see Confessions of a Shopaholic. Then we shopped around but really didn't find much. the day wore me out and by the end of the evening all I wanted to do was sit with Boogs and watch Iron Chef while finishing this post. Battle Basil... nice. ;-)

Wow! A whole week of posts in one! That's the way to do it! I enjoyed the pics also!!

By the way...on the thumb sucking....it is not as easy as it may seem.

I was a mere just turned 12 when I stopped sucking my thumb...by then it was just a night time habit only at bedtime...it was a horrible, horrible habit though!!! Not proud of it either!! My family made fun of me all the time!!

ok, on the thumbs....HARD to break!! I had 2 thumb suckers....the first we broke by finding something she REALLY wanted and told her she could have it have 3 consecutive weeks of no thumb sucking..worked for her. #2 child was MUCH harder and we had to resort to an appliance put in his mouth. He is a teenager and when he is sick or really tired, I still occasionally catch him!!!! ugh!

The pic of the sky through the snow is beautiful!! You should put that in a contest or something!!!

a SNAKE!!!!! MICE!!!!! yikes!

great week in pics!

I too was a thumb sucker. I had an appliance, like a retainer, with an s-shaped wire across the top. I was in 2nd grade, so this really only served as a reminder not to.

Popcorn is a thumb sucker. I use "Thum" for her. It has acetone and cayenne pepper in it. It's nasty stuff, but it also irritates her skin in winter when it's so dry. So, we haven't been using it as much as we should. good luck!

Atticus sucks his index and middle fingers while holding them palm side facing up (did that make sense?). It leaves his grin looking like a roller coaster. I know we're in for a big dental repair bill. If you find anything that works PLEASE let me know. He's two, so I'm thinking we're in for the long haul.

What a wonderful recap of the week. That peep hole into spring is amazing, and the park pictures are really great, too.

I am dying to see that movie. Did you love it?

I wouldn't worry about the thumb sucking. She will quit when she gets older. Life is short. If it makes her happy to suck her thumb, well, then, I say Suck away : ).

I love your picture of the hole in the snow. So pretty :)

I can't believe you didn't even have to wear coats at the park! That is nice weather! Hurry up Spring!

the pediatrician told us when Martha was little not to worry about the thumb sucking that it would NOT affect her teeth... that for some kids the need to suck was much more powerful than for others and that it was comfort and security to them. Martha is 17 and when tired or asleep she will still suck her thumb... sometimes if she is super upset she will suck it then too and she is the kid who says the world can go to, you know where cause she will not give up her thumb ever.
we tried every concoction known to man including THUM and they did not slow her down at all she would have tears streaming because THUM is so rank but she would suck it anyway.
Love the header drawing !
Good snake eat mices'... me no like mices!
have a wonderful sunday!

I was almost 14 before I was able to stop sucking my finger and we tried everything. It was horrible and I cried about it almost every morning. One day I was just able to stop. I can't really explain it.

Ok, how can you have "FEET" of snow on the ground and 2 days later you have bare grass and you're outside with no coats? We don't get that here, that's just not fair!

ACK! Mice...on your children? ACK! I couldn't do it. LOL

I can't believe you were at the park with no coats and had a snow storm all in the same week. Love the sky picture through the snow.

Eww- mice and snakes.

What a fun header...love it.

looks like you had an okay week (actually better than okay)

no help here for sucking thumbs; my kids didn't do that; my daughter did bite her nails and I tried the nail biting medicine for a bit which seemed to help; good luck!

enjoy your week ahead

Hello Fellow Homeschooler & Adult Deprived SAHM!
I can tell by the time you put into your photos that you LOVE your children. You are my kind of crazy woman (and clearly I'm allowed to say this considering your profile picture -ha. Ha. HA.)
We must be neighbors as we had that some lovely accumulation of white stuff from heaven last week too.
I am late to the comment party so . . . sure sure, everyone's already said all the good stuff.
I've got nothing new ;-)
I will come back to see you and your fun blog again. I think I've been here before to see your ugly-ma' huggidly mug contest entry.
You are a clever mom with the mitten thumb concept. . . wise wise wise.......(Psalm 19:7-9)
"The law of the Lord is perfect,
reviving the soul . . . making wise the simple."
Not that you're simple -- just wise! It's a simple solutions. See!
OK. Now I must get a frazzled caricature for my profile picture. I am a nut!

Love all the shots, but let me say.....how clever are you to make a no sucking your thumb mitten! You should market those on QVC! :)

Y'know, I stopped sucking my thumb around 8 or 9 - about the time I started having sleep-overs. :) My parents never made a big deal out of it at all and would tell other family members who did that they were okay with it & I'd grow out of it (I did.). I do, however, still remember how comforting it was for me then...and I haven't done it since. :)

If I let my girls play with snake food, they'd get too attached and start naming them all before I could ever feed the snake.
