My vocabulary just
constricts. ; )

LOVE this post! I learned so much. Great pics, fluid text, captivating subjects. Rachel will be cruising by here for a visit when she finishes schoolwork. They are laying everywhere in people's yards and sleeping in their flower beds.

The snakes look cool in the pictures--that's about as close as I like to get though LOLGrandma Tillie's Bakeryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04347610921670487366noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26292356.post-78412141042996706582008-09-02T05:40:00.000-07:002008-09-02T05:40:00.000-07:00Good Morning Becky,You have quite a menagerie ther...Good Morning Becky,
You have quite a menagerie there with all the critters. I don't know about the species of deer in the Sierra Nevada region, but the Eastern Whitetail deer around here in North Carolina (especially the ones in my dad's soybeans fields) have an aversion to household ammonia. He takes the plastic grocery bags and puts some type of absorbant material like the thick paper toweling you find at hardware stores in the bag and then saturates them with household ammonia. The bags are then attached to wooden stakes around the perimeter of the field.

It kinda looks "tacky" but you only have to leave it out for a couple of weeks until the deer have sufficiently learned that it is there. (so they decide to go somewhere it isn't)

You may have to keep the absorbant material refreshed every three or four days as needed.

My dad has found that is the best of the "Home remedies" he has come upon so far. Hope it works for your deer. Let me know.

Plant LadyPlant Ladyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08568211345190806277noreply@blogger.com
